Kybella Treatment in Phoenix, Scottsdale AZ
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the
appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat) also called “double chin.” Kybella is the first-of-its-kind, nonsurgical option for the moderate to severe fullness under the chin. Kybella was approved by the FDA in late 2015 and is just starting to gain popularity nationwide. Kybella is still only available at a handful of medical spas in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area.
In an online survey, the double chin was reported as the #2 facial concern for men! Diet and exercise alone usually are not enough to remove the stubborn fat underneath your chin. Submental fullness can be caused by more than just being overweight. The potential causes of submental fullness or double chin are weight gain, genetics, and aging.
How it Works:
Kybella uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which is a bile acid that is naturally produced by your body to help absorb fat. Once the kybella is injected, the acid immediately destroys fat cells beneath the chin area so it can’t store fat anymore. You will feel a slight burning sensation and tightness in your neck within seconds after the injection is administered. You literally will feel the fat getting sucked away in the first 10-15 seconds of the injection!
Before the procedure, your registered nurse will mark the injection sites with a marker and may administer a topical numbing agent (highly suggest) or ice pack to ease any pain or discomfort. Usually 1-2 vials are used in the treatment area. The acid then works gradually to kill fat cells, which are metabolized by the body over the following weeks.
The number of treatment sessions necessary varies for each person. Multiple treatments might be needed to reach optimal results. You can receive up to six Kybella treatments (3-4 treatments is the national average), with at least one month between each session.
- Uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. Typically lasts 2-4 weeks.
- Trouble swallowing
- Swelling (24-48 hours)
- Pain (Less than 24 hours)
- Hardness in the area treated
- Did I mention swelling? FYI your chin/neck area will double in size almost immediately after treatment. Picture below.
When scheduling treatment for Kybella in Phoenix and Scottsdale, consider planned social or work commitments, since your chin area will most definitely swell and look bigger than it was before the treatment. The swelling typically resides within 24-48 hours, sometimes even sooner. Swelling becomes less severe and happens less often with subsequent treatment sessions.
